White Sox Choose MTM Recognition
On April 3rd, the World Champion Chicago White Sox arrived in Princeton, escorted by the Illinois State Police, to pick up their 2005 championship order. MTM Recognition, subcontracted by Jostens, sold, designed, and manufactured 432 – 2005 World Series championship rings and 164 bezel pendants.
The rings were made of 14 karat yellow gold. The top of the ring has the White Sox emblem set with 37 round brilliant-cut diamonds sitting on top of an oval black onyx basestone. The two-tier bezel around the top of the ring is set with two rows of round brilliant cut diamonds; 28 diamonds in the first tier and 30 diamonds in the second tier. The left side of the ring has a recessed panel with the player’s name and the season record of “99 – 63” over the Major League Baseball emblem, with the person’s position or number at the bottom of the panel. The right side of the ring has a recessed panel with “World Champions 2005” over the playoff record of “11 – 1” at the bottom of the panel.
Additionally, on March 15th, the daughter-in-law and three grandchildren of White Sox owners, Jerry and Martyl Reinsdorf, visited Princeton. The purpose of the visit was to provide granddaughter Jenny, age 12, with information and photos for a report she was writing in school: “The Making of the 2005 White Sox World Championship Ring.” Though it has not been confirmed, we are sure Jenny got an “A” on her report.
